Which Commercial Roofing System Is Right for Your Property?
| Commercial Roofing Systems | Best For | Key Advantages | Considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| TPO Roofing | Flat and low-slope commercial roofs | Reflective surface, energy efficiency, durable membrane | Requires professional seam installation |
| EPDM Roofing | Low-slope and flat roofs | Flexible, durable, proven membrane system | Dark membrane can absorb more heat |
| PVC Roofing | Commercial buildings needing strong waterproofing | Durable, reflective, resistant to many chemicals | Typically higher material cost |
| Modified Bitumen Roofing | Low-slope commercial buildings | Strong multi-layer system, good weather resistance | Installation method varies by system |
| Built-Up Roofing (BUR) | Large commercial flat roofs | Multiple layers provide redundancy and durability | Heavier system requiring proper structural support |
| Metal Roofing | Commercial buildings with sloped or architectural roofs | Long service life, durable, low maintenance | Higher upfront investment and expansion/contraction considerations |
| Commercial Shingle Roofing | Small commercial buildings with sloped roofs | Familiar appearance, wide material selection | Generally better suited to steeper slopes |
| Coatings / Restoration Systems | Existing roofs suitable for restoration | Can extend roof service life without full tear-off | Roof condition must be suitable for restoration |

Unrivaled Commercial Roofing Services in Norwalk, CT: Protecting SoNo, Wall Street, & Route 1 Assets
Specialized Flat & Low-Slope Roof Restorations Across South Norwalk & Wall Street
From the historic brick commercial buildings in SoNo and Wall Street to the high-traffic retail strip malls along Connecticut Avenue (Route 1), Norwalk business properties demand specialized industrial roofing expertise. The harsh coastal micro-climate off Long Island Sound subjects local TPO, EPDM, and modified bitumen flat roofs to continuous salt-air exposure, severe thermal shock, and persistent ponding water after heavy downpours. Our deep roots in Norwalk allow us to pinpoint and permanently resolve complex commercial drainage issues that out-of-town contractors regularly overlook.
Long Island Sound Weather-Defense & Commercial Scupper Solutions in East Norwalk & Rowayton
When severe Nor’easters roll in from Norwalk Harbor, wind-driven rain tests the flashings, HVAC curbs, and internal drainage scuppers across Rowayton and East Norwalk industrial parks. We deliver rapid-response commercial repairs, proactive maintenance programs, and complete multi-ply membrane replacements designed to protect your assets without disrupting daily operations. As Norwalk’s premier commercial roofing authority, our team of experts provides durable, code-compliant solutions engineered specifically to withstand our city’s demanding coastal environment.

As a fellow business owner, I truly appreciate the service and the professionalism of Rick’s Main roofing. Contacting them and setting an appointment was quick and easy. The estimate team was friendly and courteous. I received a thorough and professional estimate (with photographs included) the next day. I signed the agreement and they came out to do the job 2 days later. The job was done quickly and the crew cleaned up after themselves. They also reviewed exactly what they did with me. Rick and his team went above and beyond. His pricing was competitive vs. peers and the level of workmanship was terrific. We needed a full roof replacement. I must say It was run like a military operation from the start. The program managers Neil and Lou spent time going over what was needed and what to expect. Shingles, Skylights and other various shrink wrapped material showed up at 7:30 on a Monday morning. A team of 9 came at 8, tarps were out, and the dumpster was here by 9am. By late Tuesday afternoon the new roof and skylights were installed and they were in cleanup mode. During that 2-day period Rick came onsite 3 times to ensure the work was getting done up to his standards. Synthetic roofing paper, ice shield and shingle were all installed, along with roof vents, skylights and copper around the chimneys. (real craftsman bending copper). Top notch quality job all around. Paul, Rick's gutter guy came on Wednesday. He and his team did a top notch job as well removing, fabricating and installing. Very satisfied customer!!!Posted on Google

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you handle flat roof drainage issues caused by heavy coastal rain in South Norwalk (SoNo)?
We design custom internal drain retrofits and expanded scupper systems specifically engineered to handle high-volume downpours off Long Island Sound without ponding water on historic SoNo structures.
What building roof material works best for retail properties along Connecticut Avenue (Route 1)?
Energy-efficient, high-reflectivity TPO membranes are ideal for Route 1 strip malls, significantly reducing summer HVAC cooling costs while offering superior resistance to punctures and chemical runoff.
Do you handle commercial building permits and inspections directly with the City of Norwalk?
Yes, we manage all permitting directly through the Norwalk Building Department on Sunset Hill Road to guarantee 100% compliance with local wind-resistance and commercial fire codes.
How fast can Rick’s Main Roofing respond to emergency commercial leaks near Wall Street after a Nor'easter?
Our local team provides emergency response, arriving at Wall Street and Norwalk Harbor properties within hours to temporarily tarp, assess, and prevent interior asset damage.
Can you restore aging industrial EPDM roofs in East Norwalk without disrupting business operations?
Absolutely; we utilize low-VOC, high-solids fluid-applied coating systems that completely restore EPDM seams and extend roof lifespans across East Norwalk industrial parks with zero commercial downtime.
How does salt air off Norwalk Harbor affect commercial roof flashings?
Marine salt air rapidly corrodes standard galvanized steel flashings, which is why we install high-grade stainless steel or custom copper flashings engineered to resist coastal corrosion indefinitely.
