Flat Roof Systems
- EPDM Rubber Roofing: This thick rubber shield stops bad weather. You get strong defense against harsh sun and freezing ice.
- TPO Roofing: This white sheet bounces heat away from your home. You pay less money to cool your house in summer.
- PVC Roofing: Workers melt the seams of these plastic sheets together. You do not get leaks when rainwater sits on your roof.
Which Home Roofing Is Right for Your Property in Norwalk?
| Roofing Type | Best For | Key Benefits | Considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Asphalt Shingles | Everyday single-family homes and simple repairs | Low installation costs, wide retail availability, easy patch repairs | Needs earlier replacement than premium roof options |
| Architectural Shingles | Upgrading curb appeal while securing better weather defense | Thick multi-layer design, withstands high wind gusts, attractive texture | Requires a slightly higher budget than basic shingles |
| Metal Roofing | Residents who want maximum energy savings | Excellent durability, resists rot and mold, keeps attics cooler | Higher upfront investment for materials |
| Standing Seam Metal Roofing | Premium waterfront properties and modern builds | Hidden clips stop leaks, sleek contemporary look, extreme storm toughness | High labor rates for professionals |
| Cedar Shake Roofing | Classic architecture and luxury cottages | Natural wood texture, built-in thermal resistance, ages gracefully | Demands continuous clearing of damp leaves and debris |
| Slate Roofing | Historic renovations and forever homes | Natural stone tile, Class A fire safety, lasts over a century | Extremely heavy weight and premium price tag |
| Synthetic Slate Roofing | Replicating real stone without structural upgrades | Fits standard roof framing, resists cracking, cost-effective alternative | Material performance depends on manufacturer standards |
| Flat/Low-Slope Roofing | Porch conversions and low-pitch sections | Seamless rubber coverage, low material cost, tight water seal | Requires slope angles that move rain off fast |
| Solar Roofing | Homeowners aiming for total grid independence | Direct power generation, modern seamless appearance, cuts power bills | Requires peak roof direction and high initial capital |

Trusted Residential Roofing for Norwalk, CT — From Historic SoNo Victorians to West Norwalk's Wooded Estates
Century-Old Victorians & Multi-Family Roofs in South Norwalk & Golden Hill
South Norwalk (SoNo) and neighboring Golden Hill hold some of the city’s oldest housing stock — elegant Victorian-era homes and dense multi-unit buildings dating back to when South Norwalk was its own incorporated city before 1913. These aging, steep-pitched roofs and the flat-roof additions common on subdivided multi-family homes need specialized care: proper flashing around dormers and bay windows, decking inspections before any overlay, and roofing systems that respect historic character while meeting current code. Our best residential roofing company in Norwalk understands the construction quirks of SoNo’s Victorian streets and Golden Hill’s hilltop blocks, matching materials and methods to each home’s era.
Mature Tree Canopy & Stone-Wall Estates in West Norwalk & Broad River
West Norwalk and Broad River are established, tree-lined residential pockets bordered by Route 7 and Route 123, known for mature landscaping, historic stone walls, and larger single-family lots near Norwalk Community College. Decades-old oak and maple canopies here mean heavier leaf and branch debris loads, clogged valleys, and gutter backup that can rot fascia and decking if left unaddressed each fall. Our crews build seasonal roof and gutter inspections around exactly this kind of canopy coverage, so debris buildup never turns into a hidden leak.

As a fellow business owner, I truly appreciate the service and the professionalism of Rick’s Main roofing. Contacting them and setting an appointment was quick and easy. The estimate team was friendly and courteous. I received a thorough and professional estimate (with photographs included) the next day. I signed the agreement and they came out to do the job 2 days later. The job was done quickly and the crew cleaned up after themselves. They also reviewed exactly what they did with me. The service was great and the price was fair. I highly recommend Rick’s. Great service, great people! Thank you Rick! Frank RamppenPosted on Google

Rick and his team went above and beyond. His pricing was competitive vs. peers and the level of workmanship was terrific. We needed a full roof replacement. I must say It was run like a military operation from the start. The program managers Neil and Lou spent time going over what was needed and what to expect. Shingles, Skylights and other various shrink wrapped material showed up at 7:30 on a Monday morning. A team of 9 came at 8, tarps were out, and the dumpster was here by 9am. By late Tuesday afternoon the new roof and skylights were installed and they were in cleanup mode. During that 2-day period Rick came onsite 3 times to ensure the work was getting done up to his standards. Synthetic roofing paper, ice shield and shingle were all installed, along with roof vents, skylights and copper around the chimneys. (real craftsman bending copper). Top notch quality job all around. Paul, Rick's gutter guy came on Wednesday. He and his team did a top notch job as well removing, fabricating and installing. Very satisfied customer!!!Posted on Google

I highly recommend Ricks Main Roofing I had another company install a new roof for me but unfortunately they didn’t finish part of the job (a piece of flashing ) which was causing water to get behind the flashing that was already there,so I called Rick and they sent someone next day to put up the piece of flashing and the best part at no charge and the guy that came out was really awesome super nice and super knowledgeable now that’s what I call a good reputable and honest company I wound highly recommend them anyone looking for a new roof or a roof repair thanks again guys I sincerely appreciate what you did
